Provincial and territorial benefits beside the CCB

Alongside the federal CCB, most provinces and territories run their own child and family benefits. Where the CRA administers a provincial program, it is usually combined with the CCB into a single monthly payment — you do not receive a dozen separate deposits. This page is a pointer summary only: amounts, thresholds, and timing differ by province, and a full provincial table would go stale fast.
Programs the CRA administers (pointer summary)
- Alberta child and family benefit: paid quarterly (August 2026, November 2026, February 2027, May 2027). Base component maximum $1,529 to $3,821 depending on children, reduced above AFNI $28,116; working component maximum $782 to $2,061, reduced above AFNI $47,115, with employment income over $2,760 to qualify.
- BC family benefit: maximum $1,750 / $1,100 / $900 per child depending on circumstances, with reduced amounts of $775 / $750 / $725 across the AFNI range $30,176 to $96,562, plus a single-parent supplement of up to $500.
- New Brunswick child tax benefit: $20.83 a month per child, plus the New Brunswick Working Income Supplement and a school supplement of $100 each July at AFNI of $20,000 or less.
- Newfoundland and Labrador child benefit: $157.33 / $166.83 / $179.16 / $192.50 a month by child order, with a part-benefit above AFNI $20,397, plus an early childhood nutrition supplement of $150 a month for a child under 5 or during pregnancy.
- Northwest Territories, Nova Scotia ($127.08 a month per child), Nunavut, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, and Yukon also have CRA-administered programs combined with the CCB — check the CRA calculator and T4114 for the current figures for your province or territory.
The Quebec exception
Quebec's family allowance is NOT administered by the CRA. It is a separate program with its own rules and application. If you live in Quebec, the federal CCB still comes from the CRA, but the provincial amount comes through Quebec's own system — do not expect it in your CRA payment.
